Appearance

Nhalu Vesh is a broad-shouldered orc who moves with the slow certainty of a tide coming in. They are always wrapped in a salt-stiff shroud of bleached linen and black sailcloth, layered so carefully that even their hands seem half-hidden until they choose to reveal them. The face covering is stitched from ship rope fibers and sea-worn prayer beads, leaving only a narrow slit where one eye might be glimpsed during rites. Against expectation, the shroud is immaculate while the robes beneath are patched and practical, as if they are a priest of mourning who refuses to look mournful. Their presence smells faintly of brine, lamp oil, and old incense, and they leave damp footprints that vanish before the floor can fully dry.

Height6 ft 4 in
BuildStocky and powerful, with a priest's steadiness rather than a warrior's bulk
EyesDark amber, almost gold in candlelight
HairIron-gray dreadlocks braided with black cord and shells
SkinDeep slate green, weathered pale at the knuckles and cheeks from salt and sun

Low, deliberate, and resonant, like a prayer spoken through a shell. They favor formal address, but their warmth shows in small, precise blessings rather than grand sentiment.”

Distinguishing Features

A shroud that is always dry on the outside even after rain or surf

A scar across the throat shaped like a hook cut

Prayer beads made from knucklebones and sea glass

One tusk filed flat and inlaid with silver wire

Salt crystals that sometimes gather along the edges of their sleeves

Voice

A hushed, tide-worn baritone with a rasp like rope over wood, softened by unexpected kindness

Clothing

A layered funerary shroud of pale linen and black sailcloth, tide-soaked prayer cords, barnacle-shaped bronze clasps, sea-glass rosary, and heavy wool wraps beneath

Body Language

Measured and formal, with hands often folded inside sleeves. When uneasy, they touch prayer beads one by one. In anger, they become even quieter and stand unnaturally still, like a figurehead before a squall.
