Maribel Bramblehoof
Alchemist
Maribel Bramblehoof
Species
Cervan
Appearance
Maribel is a russet-furred cervan with a narrow doe-like face, long ears nicked by old burns, and branching antlers whose points are capped with tiny brass thimbles. Her coat has a rough, rain-dark texture along the shoulders and a silky sheen around the throat, as if two different animals were stitched together. She moves with a careful, floating gait, placing each hoof between floorboards, loose bottles, and spilled powders without making a sound. Her smile is warm enough to invite confidence, but her eyes constantly measure exits, hands, and the distance to every breakable object. The unexpected contradiction is her size and delicacy: despite her slender frame and gentle voice, she can lift a full iron cauldron one-handed and has the grip strength of a quarry beast.
“Her voice is low, clear, and pleasantly hoarse, with the measured rhythm of someone reading instructions aloud. She speaks quickly when excited, clips her words when angry, and becomes almost whisperingly gentle when discussing the dead.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass thimbles cap the tips of her antlers.
A pale burn scar circles the base of her left antler.
Her right eye has a tiny amber fleck shaped like a teardrop.
She wears a silver bell on her apron that never rings when shaken.
Her hoofprints briefly glow green on floors dusted with alchemical residue.
Voice
“Low, clear, and pleasantly hoarse, with a kettle-warm cadence that turns razor-sharp when someone threatens her customers.”
Clothing
A soot-stained teal waistcoat over a cream linen blouse, layered leather apron, patched charcoal trousers, and soft red-brown hoof wraps. Her apron is crowded with glass vials, measuring spoons, folded notes, and one polished silver bell she never explains.
Body Language
Maribel keeps her shoulders relaxed and her antlers angled toward whoever is speaking. When suspicious, one ear folds backward while the other tracks the nearest door. She taps a hoof twice before making a difficult decision and rests her cane across her knees when she is hiding anger.
