Kaelen ibn-Kian
Scout Captain
Kaelen ibn-Kian
Species
Human
Appearance
Kaelen cuts an energetic, magnetic figure, with youthful sun-bronzed skin, bright eyes that seem permanently fixed on the next horizon, and dark curls tossed into chaotic spirals by years of high wind. He moves with a pilot's loose-kneed balance, rarely standing completely still, as though the floor beneath him might tilt without warning. His grin arrives before his words, and his face carries small white scars from grit storms across one cheek and the bridge of his nose. Despite his daring reputation, he has an unexpectedly gentle presence around frightened recruits, lowering his voice and folding himself into a patient crouch beside them. The contradiction is striking: he looks like a reckless young sky-runner, yet his hands are remarkably careful, almost tender, when touching maps, damaged harnesses, or injured birds.
“Fast, bright, and conversational, with sudden pauses when he notices a change in the air. He uses affectionate nicknames for allies, laughs at his own jokes, and becomes clipped and formal when discussing betrayal or civilian casualties.”

Distinguishing Features
Three thin white scars cross his left cheek.
A brass buckle on his harness is polished constantly and never repaired, despite being badly cracked.
His fingertips are permanently stained with blue-black map ink.
He wears a single mismatched earring made from a broken glider compass.
He smells faintly of lamp oil, sun-heated canvas, and crushed mountain thyme.
Voice
“A warm, ringing tenor with a rough edge from shouting over wind. His laughter is impossible to mistake, while his command voice carries sharply through storms and crowded tunnels.”
Clothing
A heavily patched lightweight fabric glider-harness reinforced with narrow metal ribs, layered over a sleeveless storm shirt. He wears magnetic knee-boots for latching onto rocky cliff perches, fingerless climbing gloves, a weather-faded scarf, and a belt crowded with chalk, hooks, folded signal flags, and emergency cord.
Body Language
Kaelen leans toward people when they speak, balances on the balls of his feet, and gestures toward invisible currents while explaining routes. He laughs with his whole body, throwing his head back and spreading his arms, but when frightened he becomes unnaturally still and begins rubbing the brass buckle of his harness.
