Sava the Silent
Expert
Sava the Silent
Species
Basalt-born human variant
Appearance
Sava is a broad, imposing woman with dense basalt skin that looks matte and finely granular at a distance, but glints with tiny mineral flecks when heated. Faint orange seams show beneath the skin of her knuckles, throat, and temples whenever she is angry or physically strained. Her obsidian eyes never blink, giving her the unnerving stillness of a carved statue, while her short-cropped iron-gray hair bristles like metal filings. She moves with deliberate economy, placing each boot as though testing a bridge. Despite her furnace-like body and intimidating silhouette, she has an unexpectedly delicate touch, able to draw hair-thin structural lines with perfect control. The impression she leaves is of a sealed forge that has decided to become a person.
“Sava is mute. She communicates through chalk, hand signs, diagrams, taps, eye contact, and deliberate physical positioning.”

Distinguishing Features
Unblinking obsidian eyes that reflect no visible light.
Thin orange heat-lines beneath the skin of her hands and temples.
A white chalk scar across her left cheek, permanently embedded in the porous basalt.
A copper plate over her sternum engraved with the names of workers killed in the quarry collapse.
Her left boot contains a tiny brass bell, but she has removed its clapper so it makes no sound.
Voice
“No audible voice. Her presence is marked by the scrape of chalk, the click of tools, and the low vibration of heat moving through her basalt body.”
Clothing
A heavy-duty fireproof canvas engineering jumpsuit reinforced with overlapping copper plates at the chest, shoulders, hips, and forearms. Her steel-toed boots are blackened by heat, her gloves are patched with salamander hide, and her broad tool belt carries wrenches, calipers, clamps, wire, chalk, and ceramic fuses. A slate drawing board hangs from a shoulder strap and is covered in precise diagrams.
Body Language
Sava communicates with brisk hand signs, angular gestures, and intense eye contact. Her posture is rigid when evaluating danger, but her shoulders soften around children, injured workers, and worn-out machinery. She taps two fingers against stone when thinking and presses her palm flat to walls when listening for movement.
