Quirks

The floorboards shift like they remember old foundations, one corner of the common room is always colder than the rest, and the tavern's bells ring even when the doors are shut tight. The barkeep keeps three different ledgers, only one of which appears to be for business. Every third song played on the stage is interrupted by a random shout from somewhere below the cellar stairs.

Lore

Locals claim the tavern was raised over an ancient waystation built on top of an older tomb, which explains the cold pockets in the floor and the uneasy silence in certain corners. The town itself depends on the inn as a neutral ground where feuds pause, caravans hire guards, and rumors travel faster than water. Folk superstition says the Broken Dune never hosts the same game twice if a grave crime is spoken under its roof, and that the lantern above the rear door burns blue when someone nearby is marked by desert spirits.
