The Salted Barrel
The Salted Barrel began as a dockside ale shed built from salvaged wreck timber after a storm smashed half the harbor quarter decades ago. Barnacle Bill took it over when he was young, crooked-faced, and broad-shouldered, and turned it into a place where sailors could drink hard, lie louder, and wake up somewhere with a roof. Over the years, the tavern became known for two things: excellent rum and frequent trouble. A disputed cargo deal, a knife thrown during a card game, and a barstool brawl that ended in a collapsed wall all helped cement its reputation. Yet the place survived every riot, fire, and raid, and now it stands as a stubborn landmark for those who know the docks well.
