Veilborn are tall, flexible humanoids with smooth skin ranging from ash gray and violet to wet black, pearl white, or translucent amber. Their eyes are large and reflective, often arranged in pairs with a smaller secondary eye beneath each brow. Delicate sensory frills grow along the neck, forearms, and spine, changing color when the Veilborn experiences strong emotion or detects psychic disturbance. Their hands have long fingers with faintly adhesive pads, and many possess thin membranes between their limbs that help them navigate vertical shafts. Veilborn voices carry a subtle layered resonance, as though another speaker is repeating each word from far away. Their anatomy varies dramatically between lineages, which the Veilborn regard as evidence of vitality rather than impurity.
