The Sunlock of Three Virtues

A round chamber of black slate and tarnished brass smells faintly of hot dust and old incense. At the far side, a bronze door stands beneath a cracked frieze of a rising sun, a lantern, and an open gate. Nine pressure plates ring a low dais in the center, their glyphs worn smooth by countless hands. When one is stepped on, thin rods inside the floor twitch with a dry click, and the ash in a nearby bowl lifts like a breath, as if the room itself is listening.
