A circular archive chamber opens around a black-water basin ringed by brass and salt-stained stone, its walls lined with cracked frescoes of sunrise, river, and ash-gray dusk. Three plaque tablets lie half-buried in dust near a trifold ring lock, and each ring is etched with six glyphs that catch the light like wet metal. When a ring is turned, the basin ripples, the frescoes briefly glow, and a low chime sounds from somewhere behind the sealed door, warning that the apparatus is alive to each mistake.
