Origin

When the first mortal struck the first mortal, the clash split into nine divine forms. Each form became a god, and the gods immediately began competing for the worship that battle generates. Their rivalry is part of the religion itself: every war strengthens some and weakens others, and no victory remains uncontested.

Cosmology

Battle teaches that conflict is the engine of creation. The cosmos is imagined as an ever-shifting warfront where every boundary was first cut by blade, spear, spell, or betrayal. Divine realms overlap like rival camps around a contested plain, and when one god gains too much worship, the others form temporary coalitions to drag them back into balance.

Structure

A fractured divine war-court of nine rivals. Two powers, Varkesh and Brakka, are the greatest and anchor opposing ideals of martial civilization. Around them orbit lesser gods of fury, banners, honor, murder, siegecraft, spoils, and mercy. The pantheon has no true ruler; councils are temporary truces, and every holy assembly doubles as a negotiation or a threat.

Mortal Relations

Mortals are both worshippers and fuel. Kings, mercenaries, rebels, healers, and assassins all bargain with the pantheon for victory, survival, and revenge. Temples are usually also barracks, armories, or field hospitals, and the faithful expect the gods to answer through omens, campaign luck, blades that sing, walls that hold, or enemies who suddenly panic.

Afterlife

The dead who honored the Battle pantheon are sorted into nine war-camps beyond the veil: some feast in the Crimson Muster, some labor in the Forge-After, and some are dragged into the Silent Pit as punishment for cowardice, oath-breaking, or treachery against the war-gods. Souls are continually pressed back into service as petitioners, scouts, shield-bearers, or champions, because in Battle, rest is only another armistice.
