Vespera bint-Kahn
Security Commander
Vespera bint-Kahn
Species
Air Genasi
Appearance
Vespera is a weathered air genasi whose dust-gray stone skin has the faint grain of sandstone and catches a pale metallic sheen beneath lamplight. Her intensely sharp slate-blue eyes seem to measure distances, exits, and weaknesses before she acknowledges a person's face. Closely cropped dark hair rises in stubborn ridges that defy the desert wind. She moves with economical precision, never quite walking when a controlled glide will do, her boots touching down only when she wants to make a point. Her left hand is ruined from wrist to fingertips, fused into a twisted, darkened shape of scarred mineral and brass prosthetic braces. Despite her formidable appearance, she keeps a tiny pink silk ribbon tied around the crossbow's stock, an unexpectedly delicate reminder of someone she failed to protect.
“Her voice is low, dry, and controlled, with the clipped rhythm of caravan commands. Every word sounds selected rather than spoken.”

Distinguishing Features
Ruined left hand reinforced by articulated brass braces and black leather straps
A thin vertical scar running through her left eyebrow
Slate-blue eyes that brighten with static when she is angry
A pink silk ribbon tied around her service crossbow
A faint whistle in her breathing whenever the air is unusually dry

“A low contralto with a rasp like sand sliding over brass”
Clothing
A heavily reinforced brass-plated breastplate over layered nomad leather, dust-resistant underwraps, reinforced tactical greaves, a slate-blue command sash, fingerless gloves, and a weatherproof half-cloak marked with the Ledger Citadel's broken-circle insignia
Body Language
She stands with her shoulders squared and her weight balanced over the balls of her feet, as if expecting the floor itself to move. Her ruined hand remains close to her belt, while her good hand makes small, exact gestures toward exits, witnesses, or evidence. When angry, she becomes almost motionless. When genuinely pleased, one corner of her mouth lifts before she remembers to suppress it.
