Thalia bint-Kian
Artificer
Thalia bint-Kian
Species
Tiefling
Appearance
Thalia is a lean, sharp-featured tiefling whose every movement seems one spark away from becoming a machine malfunction. Her swept-back horns are ridged like blackened porcelain and fitted with tiny copper clamps, while her long prehensile tail flicks, coils, and taps against nearby surfaces whenever she is thinking. Fine silver conductive powder has permanently settled into the pores of her deep umber skin, giving her the glimmering appearance of a statue dusted with frost. Her eyes are narrow and intensely observant, with pale electric irises that brighten when she studies charged glass. She moves with abrupt, efficient bursts, often stopping mid-step to listen to a vibration no one else can hear. Despite her dangerous, industrial silhouette, she has an unexpectedly delicate touch and can mend a hairline crack in stormglass using only two fingertips and a breath.
“Fast, clipped, and technical, with sudden pauses when she hears machinery. Her voice becomes soft and almost reverent when discussing stormglass, then sharpens into a cutting rasp when addressing bureaucrats.”

Distinguishing Features
Swept-back black horns fitted with copper resonance clamps.
A long prehensile tail that constantly flicks, coils, or taps.
Skin permanently dusted with fine silver conductive powder.
Pale electric irises that brighten near stormglass.
A thin burn scar running from her left jaw to the collarbone.
A magnetic resonance wrench that hums when pointed toward hidden mechanisms.
Voice
“A low, quick, electrically rough voice that carries an undertone of restrained excitement. She sounds most alive when explaining a dangerous mechanism and most human when discussing her father.”
Clothing
A heavily reinforced artificer's harness covers a sleeveless charcoal work coat. The harness is insulated with layered leather, resin, and copper mesh, and is crowded with tool loops, glass clamps, chalk capsules, wire spools, and folded diagrams. She wears protective leather gauntlets with ceramic fingertips, heavy split-soled boots, and a storm hood that she rarely bothers to raise.
Body Language
Her tail acts as an involuntary second expression, lashing when angry, curling around tools when focused, and going completely still when she lies. She leans toward machinery as though trying to hear it breathe. When forced to stand still, she taps a repeating three-beat rhythm against her thigh.
