Bofur Järnhoof
Guildmaster and artisan
Bofur Järnhoof
Species
Halfling
Appearance
Bofur Järnhoof is a stout halfling with a barrel chest, powerful forearms, and a deceptively soft belly that makes him look more like a prosperous uncle than a labor-hardened guildmaster. His beard is a dense russet-brown mass braided into five cords, each threaded with polished copper rings that click softly when he turns his head. His hands are broad, scarred, and permanently darkened around the nails by soot, yet every finger bears an elegant gold or silver ring. He walks with a rolling cooper's gait, as if balancing on the curved side of a cask, but can suddenly dart sideways with startling speed. His face leaves an impression of warmth until his pale eyes settle on someone who has lied to him. The unexpected contradiction is that his fashionable clothing is immaculate from a distance, but the cuffs are lined with hidden pockets full of filings, bent nails, and crumbs of black bread.
“His voice is low, brisk, and pleasantly gravelly, with the rhythmic cadence of someone used to being heard over hammers. He speaks in compact, practical sentences during business and becomes almost musical when telling stories.”

Distinguishing Features
Five copper rings braided into his beard click together when he moves.
His left thumb is flattened and shiny from decades of hammer work.
He wears mismatched gold and silver rings, each representing a guild member who died while working under his leadership.
A pale burn scar circles his right wrist like a bracelet.
His immaculate purple coat always smells faintly of cedar smoke and orange peel.
Voice
“A warm baritone with a rasp like a file drawn across iron, capable of filling a workshop without ever becoming shrill”
Clothing
He wears the latest Leidon fashion in dark purple and black: a fitted plum velvet coat, a black high-collared shirt, silver-threaded waistcoat, polished ankle boots, and a broad belt carrying tools instead of weapons. His copper beard rings match the buckles on his coat, while his gold and silver finger rings are arranged according to guild rank. A black felt cap with a purple feather completes the ensemble.
Body Language
Bofur plants both feet wide when asserting authority, taps metal objects while thinking, and tilts his head until his beard rings chime when he suspects dishonesty. In moments of genuine affection, he leans forward so far that his waistcoat buttons strain.
