The Worm Queen - AI-generated fantasy Monster

The Worm Queen

The worm was once an ordinary desert scavenger that fed on the remains of a ritual sacrifice. The summoner had intended the corpse to serve as an anchor for a demon, but the rite failed when the summoner mispronounced the entity's name. The resulting energies soaked into the corpse and passed into the worm as it consumed the flesh. The summoner survived long enough to witness the transformation before becoming the queen's first meal. The queen now believes every living thing in the region exists to sustain its descendants.

Brood Mind. The queen can sense the location of any living worm within 1 kilometer and can issue simple commands to its brood without speaking.
Desert Burrower. The queen can squeeze through spaces at least 2 meters wide and can remain buried beneath sand for hours without surfacing.
Corpse-Fed Regeneration. Whenever the queen consumes a human corpse, it regains hit points. It can use this ability once per corpse, up to three times per day.
Ritual Sigils. The queen has three vulnerable occult sigils beneath its throat. Each sigil has 8 hit points and may be targeted with a called shot. Destroying one reduces the queen's POW by 10 and removes one use of Command the Breed per encounter. Destroying all three ends its Mythos spells and psychic commands.
Chitinous Carapace. The queen's body is protected by dense chitin and corpse-hardened tissue. Ordinary projectiles have reduced effect unless they strike the throat sigils.
Devouring Bite. The Worm Queen bites a target within reach. On a successful hit, the target must make a Hard CON roll or become coated in paralytic digestive slime, suffering a penalty die on physical actions for rounds.
Mouth-Hook Lash. The Worm Queen lashes out with its ring of chitinous mouth-hooks against up to two targets within reach. Each target must win an opposed STR roll or be dragged 2 meters toward the queen and knocked prone.
Broodstorm. The queen expels a fan of black, sand-like larvae in a 6-meter cone. Anyone caught in the cloud must make a Hard DEX roll or suffer damage, lose their next action choking, and make a Sanity roll for 0/ loss.
Command the Breed. Once per round, the queen issues a psychic command to worms within 100 meters. Up to allied worms immediately move up to their full movement and make one attack. Witnesses must make a Sanity roll for 0/ loss the first time they hear the command.
Burrowing Surge. The queen burrows into loose earth or sand and moves up to 10 meters underground. Emerging beneath a target requires a Hard DEX roll to avoid being knocked prone and suffering damage.
Sand Dive. When hit by a ranged attack while partially buried, the queen dives fully underground, reducing the damage by 2 points per damage die. It may not use this reaction if it is restrained or has already used Burrowing Surge this round.
Shuddering Burrow. The queen moves up to half its movement through sand without provoking attacks of opportunity.
Brood Directive. One lesser worm within 30 meters immediately makes a bite attack against a target within reach.
Violent Emergence (Costs 2 Actions). The queen makes one Mouth-Hook Lash attack or uses Burrowing Surge.
Crown of Hunger (Costs 3 Actions). The queen releases a psychic shriek. All creatures within 10 meters must make a Hard POW roll or lose their next action and suffer Sanity loss. A successful roll halves the Sanity loss and prevents the lost action.
3rd level
Black Sand VeilMythos sorcery The queen may spend 5 Magic Points to fill a 10-meter radius area with unnatural darkness and blowing sand for 1D4 rounds. Ordinary sight is useless within the area, while the queen can sense creatures through the sand.
Mark the PreyMythos sorcery The queen spends 6 Magic Points to mark one visible creature for its brood. Lesser worms gain a bonus die when tracking that creature for the next hour, and the queen always knows the marked creature's direction while it remains within 1 kilometer.
4th level
Corpse LureMythos sorcery The queen spends 8 Magic Points and touches a corpse, animating it as a shambling lure for 1D10 minutes. The corpse cannot speak, but it follows simple commands and attempts to draw living creatures toward the queen's tunnels.
