Book of Echoing Graves
This heavy folio is bound in soot-black calfskin stretched over boards reinforced with tarnished silver corners. Its spine is stitched with pale thread that looks, at times, like cobwebs or tiny veins. The pages are edged in moon-pale silver leaf, and the margins are crowded with hand-painted gravestones, lanterns, sea mists, and whispering faces. When brought into a place with a story of the dead, the book stirs on its own, flips open, and settles on the tale connected to that location, often with a faint rustle like dry leaves and a soft breath of cold air.
