The Two-Headed Toll of Blackstone Hall

The chamber still trembles from the battle. Dust sifts from the vaulted ceiling, settling over the dead in a pale veil, while the smell of blood, wet leather, and extinguished torch smoke clings to the air. The ettin's possessions lie scattered among the broken flagstones, its great axe half buried beneath a fallen timber, while the two orcs' scavenged arms form a crude barricade near the eastern wall. Beneath that barricade, a loose stone reveals the hidden coffer, its coins whispering against one another as the lid opens. The garnets gleam like banked embers, and the strange understone grows warmer in the party's hands, drawing a thin green line of light across the dungeon floor as it begins to pulse.
