Detection
“The fungus grows in thick, velvety mats of deep purple. It is covered in translucent, teardrop-shaped bladders that shimmer with a pale violet luminescence whenever there is a sound nearby.”
Standard Engagement
The hazard is triggered when a creature moves within 10 feet of it or makes a loud noise (such as shouting or combat) within 30 feet.
None
The fungus regrows its memory-sacks every 24 hours.
When triggered, the fungus releases a cacophony of stolen memories. Each creature within 15 feet must make a DC 14 Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 14 (4d6) psychic damage and is stunned until the start of its next turn as its own memories are violently played back to it. On a success, it takes half damage and is not stunned.
If a creature fails the saving throw by 5 or more, it loses the memory of the last hour, making it impossible to remember how it entered the room or what it saw there.
Sound does not travel well near the fungus. All Wisdom (Perception) checks relying on hearing made within 30 feet are made with disadvantage.
