In 1032 TF, they completed the Seismic Survey Network, linking nine redoubts through acoustic relays and barometric towers. This transformed them from local guides into a regional institution. Their watershed moment came in 1114 TF during the Red Meridian Crisis. Foreign prospectors discovered a vein of luminous stone beneath an unstable sector and bribed several officials to ignore Warden closures. The Wardens infiltrated the extraction camp, evacuated nearby travelers, and destroyed the drilling engines. When the prospectors retaliated, Warden engineers triggered a controlled collapse that buried the camp and permanently changed the basin's eastern route. The Sultanate condemned the deaths publicly, then granted the order expanded emergency powers in private. Over the following centuries, the Wardens became more disciplined and more secretive. They accepted earth and air genasi, veteran trackers, healers, and scholars, while rejecting applicants motivated solely by wealth or adventure. Their victories include saving three caravans during the Ashwind Season, sealing a planar leak beneath a collapsed oasis, and exposing a foreign plot to seize Bir al-Nadim. Their failures include the loss of Survey Tower Nine, the destruction of an entire waypost during the Black Silt Surge, and a disastrous attempt to map the subterranean passages beneath the Tomb of the Ash Lord. Today, the order stands between the Sultanate's trade ambitions and the volatile earth beneath the Sunken Sun.
