The Tax Ledger at the Mill
Read Aloud
Four goblins scramble through the mill, one clutching the town's tax ledger under its arm. Two loose arrows snap across the Grain Floor as the mill wheel groans and the bridge shakes beneath your feet. The goblin with the ledger points at you and yells, 'Take the book and run!'

Battlefield Zones
1
Mill Bridge
A narrow plank bridge over the mill race; falling deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage and leaves a creature clinging to the bank.
2
Grain Floor
Sacks, crates, and a waist-high counter provide half cover; the stolen ledger lies here.
3
Mill Wheel
A turning wheel, drive belt, and iron gears fill this cramped corner; moving through it costs double movement.
Terrain Levers
- Cut the hanging grain sacks to create difficult terrain in a 10-foot square.
- Kick loose the mill wheel: one creature in the wheel zone must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity save or fall prone.
- Shove the lantern into spilled flour to create a 5-foot cloud; attacks through it have disadvantage until the end of the next round.
