Blackvein Mine
The dead still work the Blackvein seam, and the foreman has counted every living visitor.
The Blackvein Mine was abandoned after its miners broke into a chamber that should not have existed beneath the mountain. Now its tunnels breathe with unnatural cold, and the dead work unseen behind locked doors. Whoever enters must descend through prisons, shrines, and treasure vaults before reaching the thing that still commands the mine.
Cold air drifts through the mine, carrying the smell of wet stone, lamp oil, and old blood. Timber supports creak without wind, distant pick strikes echo from sealed tunnels, and sickly blue crystals cast broken light across the corridors.
☠ Threat
Hadrik Vale, now the Warden of Blackvein, rules the lowest chamber as a crystal-bound wight. His body is fused with mining armor and luminous veins, while the voices of dead miners speak through him. He sends spectral workers through the tunnels to repair the mine, capture intruders, and feed their memories into the blue crystal seam.
History
Blackvein Mine was founded by the dwarven prospector Hadrik Vale, who discovered blue crystals deep beneath the mountain. The crystals promised endless wealth, but their dust caused visions and violent sleepwalking. Hadrik built prisons, a shrine, and a sealed vault to control his workers. When he used the Heartpick in a final extraction, the mine claimed him and buried everyone alive.

Blue crystal veins protrude from the walls, humming softly near the shrine and growing warm near living creatures.
