Odran's Black Crypt

Beneath the hill, a dead king gathers his court for one final coronation.

26 rooms✦crypt✦hard

The crypt descends through barracks, prisons, shrines, and ossuary vaults built around a buried royal tomb. Its upper halls appear abandoned, but deeper chambers remain guarded by undead servants and traps designed to punish both the greedy and the faithful.

“
Cold, dry air carries the smell of chalk, old incense, and opened graves. Blue corpse-lights burn in iron bowls, while distant chains scrape stone and something beneath the floor sometimes knocks three times.

☠ Threat

Odran the Pale, now a Wight-King, is awakening beneath the deepest vault. His will travels through bells, dust, and corpse-lights, commanding lesser undead to gather relics and prepare a mass resurrection. If the funerary mask in room-23 is restored to him, Odran will rise fully and turn every marked corpse in the surrounding region into part of his deathless court.

History

The crypt was built by King Odran the Pale after a plague destroyed his capital. He ordered his court priests to preserve every noble corpse, believing the dead would advise his heirs forever. When Odran died, forbidden rites bound his soul to a crown of grave iron, and the priests sealed him beneath the fortress. His loyal soldiers became the first tomb guardians, while dissenting priests were imprisoned and cursed.
