The Dead King's Keep
The dead court waits behind the door, and the king has not yet accepted his defeat.
The castle's buried inner keep remains sealed beneath a collapsed hill, its halls preserved by a curse that rejects both decay and daylight. Adventurers who enter find a silent court of dead nobles still guarding the throne of a ruler who refuses to admit that his kingdom is gone.
Cold air leaks through cracked stone, carrying the smell of wet earth, old iron, and extinguished candles. Pale blue light flickers in wall sconces without flame, while distant footsteps echo from rooms that should be empty.
☠ Threat
Lord Odran, a revenant monarch, rules the buried keep from a cracked stone throne. His curse animates the castle's dead and feeds on the fear of the living. He cannot leave the throne chamber, but every scream, corpse, and drop of blood within the dungeon strengthens his spirit and allows him to command undead beyond the walls.
History
Lord Odran built this keep as a refuge during a civil war, then ordered a private crypt constructed beneath its great hall. When his family was betrayed and slain, Odran bargained with the castle executioner for eternal guardianship. The pact preserved the keep, raised the dead household, and trapped Odran's spirit within the throne room, where he still commands a kingdom of bones.
