This crypt was built beneath a forgotten chapel and later expanded into a hidden funerary vault for a local bloodline. It now lies half-awake, with warding rites failing and the dead stirring in their own chambers. The deeper rooms feel organized rather than abandoned, as if something inside still tends the place.

Cold, stale air clings to the throat, carrying old incense, wet stone, and the metallic bite of rusted iron. Torches sputter with blue-gray flame in alcoves that should be empty, and every sound travels too far, as if the crypt is listening back.

☠ Threat

A corpse-bound warden, the last high keeper of the mortuary order, has fused with the crypt's burial wards and now polices the tomb as if it were still sacred ground. It commands lesser dead, corrupts funerary magic, and reacts violently to any attempt to loot, open, or sanctify the sealed lower chambers.

History

Centuries ago, the chapel above this crypt served a noble house that feared its lineage would be cursed if the dead were buried in common earth. When the last heirs vanished, a mortuary order took control, sealed the vaults, and began performing protective rites that slowly became a prison for something they had unearthed below the tombs.
