Veyr's Barrow
Beneath the monastery, a dead king counts the names of those who will join him.
The crypt is a vast burial complex built beneath a ruined monastery, its upper halls serving as barracks, prisons, and shrines before descending into older and more dangerous vaults. Every passage ultimately bends toward a sealed barrow where a dead ruler dreams beneath a crown of black iron.
Cold air crawls through the crypt, carrying wet stone, old incense, and the sweet stink of opened graves. Pale blue corpse-lights burn in wall niches, while distant chains, whispering prayers, and the scrape of bone on flagstone travel through the corridors.
☠Threat
King Veyr, now a wight-king, is awakening in the sealed barrow beyond room 29. His presence animates corpses, twists sacred rites into commands, and turns memories into weapons. Each disturbance in the crypt loosens another chain around his coffin. If the adventurers linger, Veyr will rise with enough strength to command every dead body in the valley.
History
The crypt began as a royal burial vault beneath the monastery of Saint Orra, built to contain King Veyr, a tyrant feared for returning from death. Centuries later, desperate monks expanded it into a hidden sanctuary, imprisoning seers and criminals whose souls could anchor Veyr's spirit. The monastery fell, its wards failed, and the buried king began waking beneath the lowest barrow.
