The Dawnfire Covenant is a warlock pact formed with a solar dragon, an ancient wyrm whose inner furnace burns with the power of a living star. These warlocks channel concentrated radiance, searing breath, and prophetic light. Their magic is not subtle: it exposes secrets, punishes the corrupt, and turns the battlefield into a blazing horizon. The covenant’s mechanical niche is high-impact radiant damage, temporary flight, and defensive illumination that rewards aggressive spellcasting.

Spellcasting & Powers

You use the Warlock’s Pact Magic spellcasting feature. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for warlock spells and subclass features. Your subclass adds thematic radiant, fire, revelation, flight, and celestial protection options but does not grant additional spells known.

4th-Level Spells

Wall of Fire Creates a blazing barrier that divides the battlefield and punishes movement.
Guardian of Faith Summons a radiant guardian that protects a chosen location.
Fire Shield Surrounds the caster with protective flame and punishes attackers.
Banishment Exiles supernatural threats beneath the patron’s judgment.

5th-Level Spells

Flame Strike Calls down a column combining divine radiance and fire.
Dawn Original Creation: A spell of expanding sunlight that dispels darkness and harms creatures vulnerable to daylight.
Sunbeam Projects repeated beams of brilliant light that damage and blind foes.
Hold Monster Freezes a powerful enemy beneath the force of the dragon’s commanding presence.

Multiclassing

Prerequisite: Charisma 13. You gain the subclass features at the appropriate warlock levels, but you do not gain additional warlock spell slots, Pact Boon features, Eldritch Invocations, or Mystic Arcanum from multiclassing into this subclass.

Proficiencies

You gain proficiency in either Perception or Religion. You gain no armor or weapon proficiencies from this subclass.

Training & Initiation

A candidate must attract the attention of a solar dragon through an act of courage, truth-telling, or self-sacrifice. The initiation usually involves standing beneath the open sky at dawn while holding a personal secret that must be willingly surrendered. The dragon then brands the candidate with a burning sigil and grants a single ember of its essence. New warlocks learn to shape that ember into spells before they are trusted with the dragon’s breath.

Societal Perception

People often regard Dawnfire warlocks as heroic protectors, dangerous zealots, or both. Their glowing magic makes secrecy difficult, and many communities welcome them during undead outbreaks while distrusting them near political intrigue. In regions ruled by hidden powers, a solar pact may be treated as an act of rebellion.
