Riftwarden

The Riftwarden is a Blinkbinder who treats teleportation as a system of pressure, balance, and controlled release. Rather than merely crossing space, Riftwardens mark creatures and locations with temporary dimensional seams, then manipulate those seams to redirect attacks, rescue allies, and punish enemies that cross forbidden boundaries. Their magic excels at reactive protection and positional control, making them hybrid battlefield tacticians who are most powerful when the fight becomes chaotic.

Feather Fall A classic emergency spell for protecting allies during sudden displacement or failed teleportation.
Longstrider Improves the mobility of a battlefield responder who must reach endangered allies.
Shield A brief aperture can redirect an incoming attack at the last instant.
Thunderwave Creates a violent spatial pressure burst that clears enemies away from an ally.

2nd-Level Spells

Misty Step A short-range movement spell that complements the Riftwarden's constant repositioning.
Vortex Warp Relocates a creature and fits the subclass's focus on controlled battlefield displacement.
Warding Bond Represents sharing a defensive anchor between the Riftwarden and an ally.
Web Turns a marked area into a dangerous movement bottleneck.

3rd-Level Spells

Counterspell Interrupts hostile teleportation and other magic before it can complete.
Haste Temporarily accelerates an ally whose movement must keep pace with shifting portals.
Pulse Wave Manipulates spatial force to pull creatures together or push them apart.
Thunder Step Combines rescue teleportation with a damaging dimensional shockwave.

4th-Level Spells

Dimension Door Provides a major repositioning tool for emergencies and tactical extraction.
Otiluke's Resilient Sphere Places a creature inside a temporary sealed pocket of space.
Banishment Removes a dangerous creature from the battlefield by forcing it across a boundary.
Freedom of Movement Protects an ally from magical restraints and hostile spatial control.

5th-Level Spells

Wall of Force Creates a nearly absolute spatial barrier for dividing or securing a battlefield.
Teleportation Circle Establishes a reliable long-distance route between prepared locations.
Far Step Allows repeated short teleports that amplify the Riftwarden's mobility and breach control.
Hold Monster Freezes a creature in place, making it vulnerable to carefully planned spatial manipulation.

Multiclassing

A character multiclassing into Riftwarden must meet the Blinkbinder's multiclassing prerequisites and follows the Blinkbinder's rules for spellcasting, prepared spells, Luminous Aperture, and Threshold Servitors. Riftwarden features use Intelligence for their saving throw DCs and other class calculations.

Proficiencies

You gain no additional proficiencies. You use the Blinkbinder's armor, weapon, skill, Arcana, spellcasting, Luminous Aperture, Threshold Technique, and Threshold Servitor proficiencies and features.

Training & Initiation

A prospective Riftwarden first learns to sense dimensional stress by meditating at unstable boundaries, then practices opening harmless apertures under supervision. Initiates must complete rescue drills, controlled duels, and a final passage through a temporary rift while carrying another person. Those who fail are not necessarily rejected, but they are forbidden from opening unsupervised portals until they can prove they understand the cost of every crossing.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often view Riftwardens as reassuring rescuers until they witness one forcibly redirect an enemy or seal a doorway forever. Merchants, soldiers, and city officials value them highly, while religious groups and planar scholars may regard them with suspicion. In rural areas, a Riftwarden can be mistaken for an omen of disaster simply because portals tend to appear wherever they work.
